Jean Watt

°1998, UK

Jean Watt is a writer and curator based in London. Since 2023, she has been running the curatorial project A Place to Rest, which produces temporary, site-specific installations with emerging artists. The project explores situated practices in various settings, from an empty noticeboard in Joshua Tree to a residential lift in London and a construction site excavation in Berlin. Each installation is accompanied by a written response, integrating creative and analytical approaches to art writing.

Watt’s broader writing practice includes an essay on the late Los Angeles artist Julie Becker, published by East of Borneo, and a piece on Final Hot Desert and apartment galleries in London for Ocula. Her writing and curatorial work are linked by a focus on materially precarious practices and alternative approaches to traditional exhibition-making.

In addition to her independent projects, Watt has worked as a Curatorial Assistant at Superblue, an experiential art venture launched by Pace Gallery. She holds a BA in History of Art from University College London.
