1996, Belgium

Jessica Meuleman holds a MA in Art History from KULeuven. She started as an architecture student but hoped to specialise in monument and heritage care, so she turned to studying Art History. Upon discovering contemporary art and curating, she felt a different calling. Art is a practice closely related to human nature, and she sees it as an active part of society. She is interested in thinking about the way we perceive art and the impact art has on its environment. Meuleman wrote her bachelor’s thesis on the connection between the Theory of Justice and art and her master’s thesis on unlearning in the museum, based on Azoulay’s Potential ‘History: Unlearning Imperialism’.
